Optus Business can provide you with access to a mail store and forward server that continually checks your mail server to make sure it is operating. If it detects that your mail server is down, it stores all your incoming email until it is back in operation. It therefore provides a backup MTA, preventing loss of mail if your primary mail server fails.

The Optus Business mail relay server is available to you free of charge. If you are running your own primary DNS, you will need to configure it to point to the mail relay server address which is mail1.optus.net.au
